2002 Jetta GLS engine / electrical problems – How to diagnose?

I have the following problems with my 2002 Jetta GLS 1.8T (Automatic) 1) Sometimes, when I stopped (eg, fire), the transmission unit, the engine will die, I'm forced to spend Park and connect again. 2) In developing a reasonable amount of (AC power in, sub aftermarket radio / ON, GPS plugged into the cigarette lighter, etc.), my electrical system can be "reset" – I feel a jolt, / AC / radio, etc. In cutting a second, then everything starts to back up (my watch and it seems counter reset well). This happens while I'm driving, and do not seem to affect car to a mechanic who has no ideas about the cause and will be charged $ 120 per hour to investigate. Any pointers possible causes and / or suggestions Mechanic (near Palo Alto, CA) would be awesome.

you may need to reset your chip. My uncle had the same problems with their Jetta (which is a good '98). Go to a mechanic, get a diagnostic test. frmo there, get a code to reset your chip. Should be carried out without pursuing. I hope that helps!
