GPS Navigation: TomTom, Garmin or TomTom?

I want to buy a GPS unit and you need help choosing. My budget is under $ 500. Only I intend to TomTom, Garmin and Navigon. Until now, this is what I know: TomTom has more (and better) options of voices, including some celebrities. Also has a faster refresh rate. Garmin has a better color screen and features (what?) Can I get additional votes also for that? Navigon updates cost $ 70! Does Garmin and TomTom also responsible for map updates? Routing is apparently better with Navigon as recent updates to Garmin, which has actually made things worse … Can you add custom points of interest for each unit? Regarding Red Light Cameras? This gives an advantage over the other drive? What should I do?

I NAVIGON 7100, I like and get updates, free travel than others, there is a charge I believe. I had problems with NAVIGON IP that have not fixed! say that adding voice commands to them. I like everything I use it every day, although I know that my way of working too. than Update update allows travel around road works, etc. No custom POI however. I hope that helps. Even helped around DC! and thats hard to do too …. lol
